Back in 2005, Steven Wang started as a Store Manager Intern at Mervyns. He moved to work with Citi Personal Wealth Management, where he started as a registered client service associate to go up the ladder as an investment consultant. He also worked as a Senior Project Manager at JR Stevens, Inc. Steven Wang has been with WaBa Grill Franchise Corp for eight years, where he started as real estate manager to directing WaBa franchise & now its real-estate development & construction.
In 2006, WaBa Grill was founded in sunny Southern California on the principle that healthy food made with quality fresh ingredients doesn’t have to be expensive. Making smart eating decisions doesn’t come at a sacrifice for taste. WaBa Grill receives raw vegetables and proteins through their delivery doors and then serves customers the same without using fryers, heat lamps, or so much as a single drop of oil except a bit of WaBa magic!
Talking about numbers, the website states the following investment-
- Franchise Fee: $30,000 for the initial store, $25,000 each additional store
- Franchise Term: 10 years with one additional option of 5 years
- On-going Royalty: 5% of gross sales (minus sales tax)
- Marketing Fund: 3% of gross sales (minus sales tax)
- Per Store Investment: Approx. from $336,000 to $572,000
WaBa Grill expects all franchisees to fully commit to developing product knowledge and a complete understanding of the WaBa philosophy. All franchisees are required to:
- Full completion of training
- Vigorously promote the WaBa brand
- Fully utilize all systems & services provided
- Comply with all binding agreements, i.e., the Franchise Agreement and Operations Manual.
In a press note in November 2021, WaBa Grill informed of opening its 200th store. Celebrating its 15th anniversary in 2021, the healthy fast-casual brand opened two new locations in Bakersfield, marking its expansion into Central California for the first time. WaBa Grill’s over 190 locations are dotted throughout Arizona and California, including Kern County. Steven Wang spearheaded the expansion program. Steven also played an important part in the US expansion of Mom’s Touch.
