Jean Boland has been appointed Chief People and Culture Officer of WOWorks, the holding company for healthier restaurant brands Saladworks, Frutta Bowls, Garbanzo Mediterranean Fresh, and The Simple Greek, effective April 11, 2022. Boland has over 30 years of experience in human resources and leadership development in various service-oriented industries. From 2019 to 2021, he served as Chief People Officer and Vice President of Human Resources for WOWorks. She was most recently the Chief People Officer at OMS360.
Kelly Roddy, CEO of WOWorks, stated that the company has created a new Chief People & Culture Officer position because culture is a critical component of any great company. It is critical that the company has an experienced officer responsible for bringing it to life daily, and Jean is the best person for the job. Jean Boland was instrumental in developing the WOWorks family of brands’ mission, vision, and values. Additionally, she founded the Culture Committee and assisted the organization in transitioning to entirely remote work when the pandemic altered how the world conducts business.
Boland will report to Roddy and be responsible for the cultural development and growth of all four WOWorks restaurants, talent acquisition, employee engagement and retention, human resources policies, and HRIS systems. Boland previously worked for FOCUS Brands, the franchisor of Carvel Ice Cream, Cinnabon, Schltozsky’s, Moe’s, and Auntie Anne’s, among other quick-service restaurants. Additionally, she worked in various capacities at RARE Hospitality International, the former owners of Longhorn Steakhouse, Bugaboo Creek Steakhouse, and The Capital Grille.
Jean Boland advises being prepared for this new responsibility of further developing the WOWorks culture and tailoring the goals and strategies of each department to ensure their engagement is unified. Her priority is to infuse the company’s values into everything it does and stands for. She wishes to re-establish a connection to the mission and vision of the company and realign its strategic efforts around those values for restaurant franchise partners, employees, and vendors.
